For her 13th birthday, our granddaughter Morgan chose a restaurant for a special dinner with our family. She chose Shogun of Racine where, “Grandma, they make the food right in front of you.”

A Japanese master chef slices and dices an array of fresh vegetables and cooks them on a sizzling Teppanyaki grill in the center of the table, all while joking with and entertaining his guests.

The entire night, Morgan smiled from ear to ear, especially when the chef included her in his kidding around. Morgan chose lobster, while the rest of our party of six picked from a wide selection of steaks and seafood. To top the night, the Shogun staff sang “Happy Birthday,” presented a treat lit with candles and took a family picture to add to their collection, which hangs on the wall in the entrance to the restaurant.

Thank you, Shogun staff, for making Morgan’s 13th birthday a memorable one.
